Newborn Session FAQs
-
As a parent, the first two weeks of your baby’s life is often super challenging and leaving the house when your baby is so tiny can feel really overwhelming.
And whilst many would love photos of their newborns whilst they’re still tiny, the thought of going to a studio under bright lights, taking nappies and muslins and bottles and changes of clothes doesn’t appeal, and they miss out on the small window they have to have their newborn captured at this fleeting stage.
A Home Newborn Session may suit you better.
Newborn sessions with me are relaxed, calm and gentle. The session will take place in the comfort of your own home, with only natural posing - mostly having cuddles! I’ll be on hand to help soothe and settle them if you need a break or baby is being distracted by the smell of milk! I’ll be gently guiding you throughout to create the end goal - some beautiful natural, organic looking photos of your baby and family.
There’s something really special about photographing your newborn baby and family in your home environment, your safe space. That’s where you spend your most quality time together, and where it’s all beginning!

Whilst there are a lot of talented studio newborn photographers out there who have an amazing collection of props and interesting ways that they pose newborns, it's not the style of photography that I truly connect with. I love photographing newborns being held in their parents' or siblings' arms, curling up to sleep, or enjoying their freedom having a wriggle around! I will swaddle your baby in a blanket so they feel safe and snug, and I will bring blankets and cushions to support your baby when they are lying down for photos, but I won't ever put them into any unnatural positions or in or on any other props.
-
am a natural light photographer and especially believe that with newborn babies, artificial/studio lighting and camera flash can be really obtrusive and uncomfortable for you and your baby. I will ask you to have a quick scout of your house to find the rooms with the most natural light and I will photograph you in front of windows to get that gorgeous sunlight.
-
The most important thing for me is that baby is comfortable, and you're comfortable too. I suggest avoiding bright clothing or anything with obvious logos and graphics, and instead wear something plain - in light, neutral, warm and earthy tones (think beige, cream, ivory, browns and rust colours) as these colours make the photos look extra beautiful. I will send you a suggested colour palette and outfit guidance before our session. Baby will be in a gorgeous little knitted outfit, then gentle swaddled - I will bring a choice of outifts and a blanket too.
-
Absolutely! You are your baby's entire world, and I'm sure you're so busy looking after your little human(s) that being in photos with them is a rare occurrence! Some photos will be of just your newborn, and the others with parents, siblings and fur babies (if you want to be in them!)

I would recommend booking your newborn session during pregnancy to maximise chances of availability. Newborn sessions work best when baby is between 7-14 days old, so we can pencil in your session for a date that falls then or around 2 weeks after your due date, however we all know that babies can be little pickles and not always arrive when expected and I also want you to feel comfortable and ready for me to come round, so if this date needs to be shifted, let me know as soon as you can and we'll arrange an alternative date.
-
I give all photos in digital format, uploaded to a private gallery for you, so that you have the freedom to choose, use, download, share or print them to your heart’s desire!
FAMILY Session FAQs
-
My sessions are relaxed, playful, and centred around connecting with each other. There’s no stiff posing instead, we’ll spend our time playing games, exploring, cuddling, and letting moments unfold naturally while I gently guide you along the way.
-
I love doing family photography outdoors in beautiful natural locations around Mississauga, Oakville, and the GTA. I can suggest locations based on the kind of feel you’re after - whether that’s open fields, waterfront, or somewhere more tucked away and quiet.
-
Honestly, they don’t need to! I expect kids to be kids - running, exploring, needing snacks, or wanting cuddles. They won’t want to do everything I suggest and that’s okay! The best moments often come from the in-between chaos, and I work around your children, encouraging them to play and explore with us all, rather than expecting them to sit still and smile for the camera.
-
I’ll send you an outfit guide after booking to help you choose clothes that feel like you, photograph beautifully, and work well together without being too “matchy.” But my simple suggestions are - plain, comfy, and earthy colours!
-
If the weather isn’t suitable, we’ll simply reschedule to the next available date. No stress at all.

Your preview gallery will be ready within 2 weeks of your session. I always aim to deliver as soon as possible, while giving each image the care it deserves. Once you’ve chosen your favourites from your preview gallery, please allow another 3-7 days for retouching, final edits and getting the finished copies over to you.
